Last night I flew about 5300 feet out at 500ft. from residential to business area. Drone lit with firehouse on each wing. Signal in and out, drone remote said lost contact returning home, at the same time I hit return to home. Remote acknowledged , I’n a few mins drone was not reappearing on its trip home. I knew battery was prob at 35 percent. Last gps location looked like it was heading home. I panicked , moved to sport, little wind on way home. I pegged it and it never came home. I used find drown , it led me to drone  2000 feet further away from return home command. It landed it barbed wire fenced in commercial building Lot and strobes lit the hole lot. When I lost signal I think I threw to many commands to confuse drone. I need to safely try return home after lost connection. Looking for ideas to do it safe as possible.
