Hello everyone,

Well the unfortunate event of losing control of my drone took place yesterday evening. I have had the drone since August '18 and have had no issues from the get go. Many flawless flights and after a long break of not flying i thought i would jump back into flying. I updated everything, charged my batteries and set the drone on a plastic table ready for take off. The Go app started up and told me to calibrate the compass - no dramas. After about 5 mins of flying i turned the aircraft around and started heading toward home which is when i noticed things were not right. It started to drift and yaw with out any input from me. The next five minutes i tried to regain control with various warnings popping up about the rear sensors but could only watch.

Still have not found the aircraft but have not given up yet...

Can anyone offer any insight?

Thank you...

Hi Trent,

At 6m2s and 6m23s your MA in ATTI for short moment; warning: compass error

RTH initiated bt the app, RTH not flown in a straigh line, but a curved one. (compass error)

At 9m16 only 21 meters away from home at high height : 266 meters
Autolanding initiated by smart batt at 19% level, need some time do decscend to ground level.

During autoland MA moved away (compass error and/or bad GPS signal) again but craft postion was recorded during the whole landing.

Almost last LatLon pos at 9m40s at 2 meters baro height= -22.67586200, 117.78321700.
Last pos at minus -16 meters = -22.67585800, 117.78314400.

Hope you will find your MA.

cheers

"Is it possible the find my drone gps coordinates are incorrect?"

Yes, absolutely. The last position shown is simply the last time the control unit was able to receive a position indication from the aircraft, it is quite possible the aircraft was still fly onwards, but out of signal range. The Find My Drone function can be widly inacurate, it is nothing more than a guide.

It is no wonder you had a compass error, the whole area is solid iron ore.

If the starting location shown in the Phantomhelp log viewer is correct, the crash location should be qyute close too.
However the drone was travelling fast when it crashed so could have bounced around and ended up further away.
Look northwest of  -22.67585   117.78314

Go app started up and told me to calibrate the compass - no dramas.
That's probably where the problem started.
When you think the drone is asking for compass calibration, it pays to check the message closely because it's usually just warning you of a problem that the compass has detected and the correct action is to move away from the problem.

The way the drone took off at high speed with no joystick input suggests a yaw error situation.
Do you remember which way the drone was pointing when you launched it?
Was it facing west?

Found it!! It was approximately 40m from where find my drone last reported the location. It has landed very hard and suffered a broken arm and some minor scratches.

Yes, the orientation was correct at take off.

all the footage is very strange. It seems as if the gimbal is also malfunctioning. Does the drone turn upside down?
