Which would you suggest? Both would cost me the same.

You can't go work either way. The Mavic air has more features like obstacles avoidance front and back and gesture mode. The Mavic mini is new and a great travel companion. It all comes down to what your trying to get out of them.

I'm looking for one that both me and my grandsons can enjoy using it. My concern regarding the Mavic Air is it's apparently no longer made.

That's understandable. I don't own either drone but have seen both in action
and in my opinion the Air is the best choice. Even thought they are not being
produce doesn't mean you can't get the service or parts you need. it may not
be still be made but the Mavic Air will be on the market for a while. If your grandson
is under the age of 12, I would say go with the Mini.
