I just heard this from someone that I can not say if they have a way to know this or not for sure but as it is some piece of possible good news, I decided it is worth mentioning it:

It appears DJI will, in fact, be selling an S1 -> EP upgrade package. And it might even be as soon as next month. No idea about pricing or anything but considering how expensive the EP seems to be, I would not keep my hopes up (who am I kidding? I will but it anyway...).

That robotic arm looks like it could be fun.

Some interesting phrasing in the video about adding the EP to the S1.
It doesn't explicitly state it is an upgrade kit, but if you have an imagination and hope, it looks like it may be.

I want the upgrade kit with a firmware update that loads the SDK capability, not another Robomaster.

An upgrade kit would most likelly include the extra hardware on the EP. So not simply a software update.
