Has anyone been flying their Mavic Air 2 with an Appie iPad Mini 5?  If so, any issues?  Thinking I'd like a bigger screen than my current iPhone, but I'm hesitant to pick up a Mini 5 just to see if it works.

mini 5 shoud.. but the mini 4 can eventually cause problems with overloading the CPU.  // edited the previous answer.

I am flying with the iPad Mini 2019, I don't know if "iPad Mini 5" is an older model or the same.

Hi, K9JDN. Please check the Supported Mobile Devices list of DJI FLY here.  Currently, Ipad mini 5 is not supported by DJI FLY. I apologize for any inconvenience caused.

As far as I know, you can use it but it could overload the device CPU depending on what apps you are running at the time. The mini CPU is not very powerful.

Other than being totally wrong heh.

It has the newest chip in it.  Its got the same chip that the ipad air does and a newer chip than the regular ipad.

Its runnin an A12 in both the ipad air third gen and mini 5.  ipad 7th gen is running an A10.

So if anything the mini would be one of the better options....

That doesn't sound correct iPad Mini 5 should be supported.. May be a typo on the page?

Hi
I have used the iPad mini 5 this is the latest iPad mini model.
AFAIK I’m  not having any problems.  I have only flown once though.

I did have to use a mount for the controller. I used a PGYtech mount.

Good luck and  Happy Flying

He asked about the iPad Mini 5 it has more then enough horse power to run DJI Fly and works very well.

A12 Bionic chip with 64‑bit architecture
Neural Engine
Embedded M12 coprocessor

It will not fit in the holder though so you will have to use an adapter as talked about in this forum on another thread.

They haven't updated the page yet.  The iPad mini 5 works very well with the DJI Fly app especially since they fixed the display to use the native size instead of the 2X compatibility mode.

Not true at all. The iPad mini is functionally the same device as the larger brother, but with a smaller screen. It’s equivalent to a traditional 10.2” iPad. Each generation’s mini (3-5) is equivalent to that year’s regular sized iPad.

The iPad or iPhone is the best device to run DJI Fly, period. There’s no comparison in terms of compatibility & reliability.

I  received the 1 foot long cable referenced in the message that I am replying to and can now safely say that it works to connect the Mavic Air 2 RC and the iPad Mini 5.

Everything works great with my iPad mini 5 but the compass won’t show me the direction of the drone. It says I need to calibrate the air 2 or my device but I always calibrate the air 2 and can’t figure out if it’s even possible to calibrate the iPad mini 5.

I have just purchased the mini 5 and so far no cpu issues. I have not been able due to weather to do an exhaustive test but. with all i have done,i have not had any errors or issues. Its actually perfect for the mavic air 2 considering picture quality and size. It fits in the flymore carry bag perfectly giving it 5 stars for function too. Its truly a match and i recommend it to anyone that owns or plans on owning the AIR2. Truly a matched pair when its so portable and just the ticket fir AIR 2. 2THUMBED 5 STARS GO GETIT NOW!!

I may be wrong but i think the new update no longer shows direction on bottom middle of screen.
