Ever since Osmo Pocket invented pocket gimbal camera segment, handful of competitors appeared.
But so far, no one comes close to challenge Osmo Pocket.
I actually expacted a long time gimbal maker Feiyu would bring more on the table. And pre-ordered it.
Well... may be I wished too much...
Feiyu Pocket claims impressive hardware specs.
- 0.005° gimbal persision.
(Osmo Pocket is 0.02°)
- Max gimbal speed 180°/s
(Osmo Pocket is 120°/s)
- 1.62μm censor pixel size
(Osmo Pocket is probably 1.55μm considering its censor size)
- 4K 60P Max 120Mbps
(Osmo Pocket is 4K 60P 100Mbps)
- 120° field of view
(Osmo Pocket is 80°)
- F2.8 apeture
(Clearly Osmo Pocket is better here with F2.0)
- FY-Log color profile
(Flatter than cinelike-D)
- Internal Wifi function
- Tripod mount at the bottom
- 270 mins bettery life
(Osmo Pocket is 140)
However all the specs have a meaning, only if implemented masterfully.
At the time of the release, Feiyu Pocket is far, far away from the complete. Worst release firmware I ever seen.
Gimbal is horribly unstable, camera is cropped in its 120° FOV into 80°, bitrate is below 90Mbps and 4K 60P sampling rate is cut down below half.
It suppose to be able to choose between 120° FOV and 80° FOV in the menu but it is not updated yet...
I am sure hope firmware updates would rush out to fix things but I guess by the time it fixed everything Osmo Pocket 2 might come out to sweeping the floor.
Thank you for the info. The specs I can find shows it having a smaller sensor then the pocket (1/2.5"). So if that's true, it's pixel size should be smaller than the pocket...

That’s easy to over look that sensor size matters with sensor ASPECT RATIO.
Osmo Pocket sensor is 4:3 sensor aspect ratio. That is good for 4:3 photo, you can use full sensor size.
But when you shoot 16:9 video, you only use a portion of the sensor. 8.3 Megapixel to be exact.
However Feiyu Pocket uses 16:9 aspect ratio sensor. So its full Photo is also 16:9. However in 16:9 video you can use bigger surface than 4:3 sensor.
Cus its about how big of a square you can fit in Lens circle. In 4:3 Sensor you need to cut that 5:3 square again to get 16:9.
But 16:9 sensor can use full diameter of Lens circle. That is why their 1/2.5” sensor pixel is Bigger than 1/2.3” sensor.

It’s best time to shop around for gimbal camera.
Every choice has its merit.
True.
I'm especially looking for a motion timelapse option.
Had the OM1, but that did not work well in that department.
Low quality output, lot's of errors.
Currently Osmo Pocket is the best choice for motion timelapse.
Proper shutter speed control in timelapse.
Jpeg timelapse can be sequenced into beautiful 4K.
Gimbal movement is somewhat stable. (Need to smooth out some shakes later in editing)
