I guess the seller of the lots made them as small as possible so that they could get as many as possible sold The space between this house and the one next to it is more or less exactly the minimum distance allowed.

I noticed this a lot when I was driving around in Sweden (at least on some places) they made the new houses rather close together.
Looked even more close than here in NL
