We had a couple days of heavy rain, so this creek was WAY up.


The woods were FULL of poison ivy! I continued as long as I could avoid it, but the paths were completely blocked, so I gave up on the hike along the stream. I was sure I shot some video of the ivy blocking the way, but couldn't find it.


No brats were harmed in making this video.

Dangerous?  Not really. If you get it, it's 2 weeks of a really itchy and annoying rash.

One tip: When you get home, put your clothes in the laundry and take a shower. Get the oil washed off within a few hours and you'll be ok, but it can be on your clothes, shoes and other gear; so handle those carefully. Like, clean them off before your shower.

The wash machine will take care of any of the oil that is on your clothes, but be careful as you can get it from your unwashed clothes.

I spot it pretty easily, but it was absolutely everywhere.

Identifying it is easy. The outer two leaves look like mittens with "thumbs" pointing out, as if you were holding your hands palm up. There are different varieties with different shaped leaves, but all have 3 leaves and thumbs.
