I was just wondering, when in sport mode is it just forwards and backwards that is speeded up or is it up and down speed too.

If I remember well speed up was about 25% faster in sport mode...

You can test it easily in a safe area.

That sort of thing is shown in the Specs:

Max Ascent Speed       
5 m/s (S-mode)
4 m/s (P-mode)

Max Descent Speed       
3 m/s (S-mode)
3 m/s (P-mode)

Max Speed (near sea level, no wind)        72 kph (S-mode)

When flying mine yesterday I'd say sport mode affected climb but not decent for vertical height changes in hover mode, when changing height in forward or reverse the climb/dive was impacted by rate of travel (mps) at the time of climb/decent application.

So,  3 weeks after this flight, I went back for a search and rescue mission........the start of this video I was 8000ft  LOS up this valley......from Take off I needed 1100ft altitude.....however I was never more than 350FT agl.

During the trip to the top, I was in sport mode climbing because once I got there for the SAR Mission I needed as much time on scene to review the ravines in all the corners for a missing dirt bike rider...



The below video shows flying back to home point full forward and full down to maintain below 400ft AGL
