I am unable to connect my Samsung Galaxy J3 device to the controller using the DJI GO 4 app, any assistance greatly appreciated!

Well that is not good. Unfortunately there are tons of Android devices and OS's that its really hard for DJI to test them all. You might want to invest in a used more mainstream device like a Galaxy S8 or something that is on the recommended device list. Maybe one of the site Admins will see this post and forward it to the software group.
I have the same problem with a Samsung Galaxy 5(Neo) with V7 OS the only thing holding it back is the Model. I have a Galaxy S10 and the App works great on it but I was hoping to use an old phone.
