A while back, being bored, since I was more or less stuck around the house due to the covid quarintine, I decided to round up some stuff I had laying around and attempt to put together a landing pad to use with my Mavic 2.
I used some 1/2" blondewood plywood (this is pretty light stuff), some hinges and some really old paint I had stored away. This is what I came up with.
The overall size is 22-1/4" x 22". I didn't have enough scraps of the plywood to make it one piece so I decided that I would make it fold a bit. The center piece ended up being 11-1/4" x 22 and the two end pieces are each 5-1/2" x 22". I do include a measured drawing below if for any reason someone may wish to build something like this. If you do wish to try this project just make sure to make the center piece wide enough to allow the two ends pieces to fold flat.
I used 3 small hinges on each of the side pieces as shown below. I didn't finish the back as carefully as I did the front.
Below is a shot of it folded up.
And finally a shot of the landing pad holding my Mavic 2 Pro. It is not too heavy and weighs in at 3 1/2 lbs, but at the same time I don't think the Mavic or the wind will be blowing it away and I don't need to stake it down. Again, the paint I used was just some I had used years ago for a different project and it is just an eggshell finish latex paint. I actually had to thin it a bit with some water as it was starting to get a bit thick.
