Playing with post in Shotcut.  Using "Size an Position", you can enlarge your video (cuts on the part you want to zoom) an with "keyframes" you can adjust the speed of he effect.

a good "friend" liked the effect BUT noted a "glitch"  in the video when I pulled zoom back.... CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!

I waited longer to pull back so that a "glitch" might be hiddened in the drone's yaw.

In the first clip, it looks more like that the keyframe at the end of the cut zoom area is not on 100% scale, but rather a little higher and therefore a jump is visible. In addition, the keyframe type should be set to "smooth" rather than "linear" or "discrete". You can also take pans into the zoom if you use X and Y offset as keyframe in addition to "scale".

Thanks for the info!!!  My experience with video editors is limited to MS Movie Maker and Showbiz from ArcSoft (and a couple convertion apps with limited editing).
