I'm curious what locator people are finding to work well on a Phantom 2 Vision 2+?

I'm in the US and have Verizon as my carrier (if it makes a difference as to where I would get the SIM card).  Also, I've seen some that require a $25 per month service; not interested.  I can add a device to my Verizon plan for $10 per month (and often free) but I need to find a good and right device.

I have seen a lot of people using Flytrex.

I'm also interested here. I had no idea Verizon would be compatible with a phantom. Actually I didn't know my phantom could have its own sim? Is the SD drive compatible with it or another... orifice?

Flyrex is also interesting does anyone have real experience with them?

I use the TK102b mini gps tracker, bought on ebay, very simple PAYG tracking, no issues recorded with me.
There are some other designs of tracker and some have retro fitted and stripped this unit to fit inside the phantom.  Im happy with the Velcro under the battery compartment.

Loc8tor Lite is cheap and works fine.

Reading the description the Loc8tor is more of a close-range locator; I'm most interested in something to find the Phantom if it happens to be further away but it does look like a nice device to find the Phantom if you are within 30-40'.

locator is a close range system, not GPS based. A locator for the phantom have to be very lightweight and most cheap systems are not really good, they sometimes work and sometimes not. Another problem with them is the battery, when the phantom hit the ground its possible that the battery inside the GPS locator gets loose and it will not work anymore. Im also not sure how the devices will affect the phantom itself because there is a cell phone in it

I use this locator too, in my opinion, is the best option. But my Phantom 2 total weight is around 1380 grams. Is recommendable to upgrade the new 2312 motors to use this weight? You have battery problems with your Tracker?

With that weight its better to try the 9450 props first if they had improve the lift use the new motors too.

The tracker does indeed have battery issues, but I only connect battery when in use.... serves its purpose.

As for weight, I've upped the gains and compensated nicely I think, performs well for my uses.

I found this one used by some fliers of drones.  Cell phone activated and only $5 per month.

No, theres not much room for placing inside, Im happy to just strap it with Velcro under the battery compartment rear.

The Velcro is screwed into the legs, velcro on the back of tracker and another velcro strap wrapped around both, very sturdy.

I use the Tagg per tracker...

Hello, here I just give you a kindly reminder. Totally the better weight of Phantom 2 should not more than 1300g due to this type machine is not a modified machine and we've already fixed the weight. If you add much weight on the original machine, it would cause the unstable flying.

With this weight my fly time is 16 minutes aprox. , and the fly are stable, but I want upgrade the new motors 2312, ESCs V2.0 and new 9450 propellers. DJI told me that the max payload in the "old" Phantom 2 is around 1350 grams. and 1500 grams in the new version. I have 40 aditional overload grams... I concerned with this weight, for this reason I want this upgrade, but not sure if upgrading the new 2312 motors or the T-Motor Antigravity...
Any advice?

I have a stock vision+ without the gimbal arm due to lack of ribbon cable, few little mods and the gps tracker.
I connect a small 12mp camera to my AV leads from gimbal wires and keep the gimbal base for telemetry setup at present.
This is currently undergoing a workaround and we are very close to removing the stock gimbal full stop.

The gains have been adjusted to 140 140 140 200

                                                 200 200

This works great with my setup and weight, but each to their own,  follow the gains instructions and adjust as per your setup.

I use an old iphone with find my iphone activated. Works like a champ.
