For those who have or are thinking about buying the Mavic Air 2 - have you bought the Fly More Combo package or the base kit and have you bought extra batteries? So just how many batteries do you feel is right for your needs with this new drone. Write in the comments why - are you someone who has 4 and flies them in pairs or flies the drone to 30% before landing so they are at a safe storage level without further charging when you get home or do you have ten batteries for professional needs or someone who spends most of their life flying drones... Or is one enough to capture that occasional sunset on holiday? Will be good to know.

Two minimum for any flyer, nothing worse than having a failure just when you want to fly if you have only one that's your flight over.
Combo with 3 is about right for me currently, I will be using across the course of a day out on the motorcycle with some GoPro output to, I might add a fourth if I find I'm using more drone footage.

I find two to be the sweet spot for my needs - on this drone that's around 50 minutes in the air in one outing and plenty of flight time/footage/stills. With four I pair them up to extend the life of the batteries and on the occasional outings where I know I will have plenty of time on my hands driving to multiple locations then I can take all four and get around 1.5 to 2 hours flight time without touching a charger - more than enough for me and four still fits nicely in the fly more bag.

For me 3 feels right, so I bought the fly more combo. I'm a newbie in drone flying and so I've plenty of time to fly and explore. No hurry to get the shots done, I can hover over a spot and play with the settings until I get the right outcome. Also I can practice flying to get used to it.

I think 3 will be the sweet spot for most

I voted for 3 and may consider another. The lengthy flight time makes for a nice afternoon of flying. With my MA,  with shorter flight time, I felt the need for more, seven.

I always get the fly more combo. For my use, I find 2 batteries are enough for photos and videos. If I am doing  hyperlapses,  I use 3 batteries.

Three is fine with me too.  My last drone only had two, and flight times were shorter also, so I am basically well equipped for any outing that I choose.  Down the road, I might get one more to ease the charge rotation a little.

It really depends on the drone, what you use it for and what its max "usable" flight time is. I have 4 for my Phantoms, and Pro2s and 18 Spark batteries. I use the Spark for instruction and have 5 of them for outdoor use. Also have the Spark portable Charger. Have 5 Ryze Tellos all with 4 batteries each. Use for indoor and windless outdoor days instruction.

Many commercial operators using their drones for work will have what they call a B drone or backup so quite a number may invest in the MA2 in case the M2P or their primary drone malfunctions. Also the MA2 has features that the M2P hasn't got such as the ability to record 1080p video at 240p, 4K at 60p, 4K in HDR and 48mp stills plus a new SmartPhoto still. So adding the MA2 will give an operator (and their client) more options.

You're welcome. For recreational use only I personally would never sell the Mavic 2 Pro for the Mavic Air 2 but if I'm upgrading from an entry level drone like a Spark, Mini, MA1 etc then the MA2 is by far the better value for money option. I have seen a fair few sell their M2P for the MA2 with no regrets or have both because they can simply afford to or use them to promote their social media channels such as you tube.

I think a fair few of those M2P owners were never really fully utilising the camera capabilities anyway.  In decent light the MA2 video out of the can without processing can look better than the M2P with M2P shots being softer (good for editors).  So if you really want to push the M2P you need decent software on a decent rig and most of all knowledge and skills to exploit the footage.  Most M2P owners are not in this bracket.

Recording in 10-bit, H.265, 4K30 in Log will require a lot of work in post. I agree many just bought the M2P thinking is was an upgraded point and shoot and moaned heavily about how soft everything looked not knowing that the details were there but needed to be sharpened in post along with barrel distortion and colour grading. It is an excellent drone for those who really enjoy post editing (and have the software and 4K monitors to support it). It is definitely not a consumer drone for the average user. Whereas the MA2 is designed more toward a top end point-and-shoot with useable footage and stills straight off the micro SD card. As an experienced recreational user who detests post editing video I massively prefer the MA2 for it's all round ease of use - I sold the M2P last year!

then it would be interesting if the M2P could have the choice of processed or raw video. Just like with a digital camera  you have the choice of a processed .jpg out of the camera or a raw file. Is it not possible to do this for those who don't wish to post-process?

It does have the option for normal (in 8-bit, H.264) and jpeg's but the quality is similar to what you would get from a drone for nearly half the price. To really get your monies worth out of the M2P you need to maximise the potential of it's capabilities and as Andy UK rightly said, that requires a lot of work in post with the right editing software otherwise, you may as well buy the MA2 which has a longer flight time, improved transmission range, is more portable, is lighter with a lower drone class weight, improved APAS/OA sensing and active track, upgraded remote and is amazingly nearly half the cost to buy.

Video from the M2P and the MA2 and every other consumer drone is processed. It is just processed differently depending on the setings you choose.  RAW video is a very different thing and requires specialist storage stolutions on the drone, you average SD Cards don't cut it.

What I meant is that there could be different settings on the M2P to have it more processed to please those who want a top quality drone but do not have the ability to post process 4k video with After effect or similar software. There could be the option (easily) to have the video with more sharpening, more color saturation. Would it not?

I am on the fence about buying the M2P or the m2zoom (love the effect). My friend have a Mavic Pro and it's awesome. Now I am even more confused which one to buy. Good thing I am in no rush. too much work right now to fly anyway.

Sounds like you need the Mavic Air 2 it'll also save you a lot of money and you can make your friend with the original Mavic Pro jealous - the MA2 wlks all over the Original Pro and (if you don't want Zoom) the M2Z.

Never used them when I had them as the majority of my trips are within 30 minutes of where I live. By the time the battery had cooled down I was usually at home! Probably why DJI don't include a car charger in their latest fly more combo. Though if you travel long distances with your drone then worth considering.

Lol you Judd explain to someone  the fullf5ame camera is less useful then a 1/2 lol. Woow. Just thinking simple photos. .  Be honest   never ask your opinion for camera purchase..  Also  if you record 4-6-8 k video. Can be edited  on a proper pc. The result will be visually notable.
