In the UX SDK, there is a Pre-Flight Checklist widget that can be used to fetch the status of various systems on board the drone, including ESC status and gimbal status.

Is there an equivalent for these in the SDK, and if not, are there plans to add them?

UXSDK is built on top of MSDK, so those figures can be found from MSDK. The Pre-Flight Checklist widget contains many figures read from flight controller and gimbal. You can go to FlightController and Gimbal class to find how to get them.

I've found nothing in the gimbal class that indicates a gimbal is in a "normal" state or a state that needs calibration.
