I was watching a Youtube video last night of a guy doing a distance test on the Mavic Air 2. He had discovered by accident that when placing his finger on his ipad screen, he could change the camera's point of view to anywhere he wanted to point, regardless of the direction of his Mavic.
I immediatly went outside with the Air 2 and lo and behold it works. I reread the 52 page manual and don't see that feature mentioned anywhere. It's probably the coolest thing I didn't know was even possilble to do. When I get the chance, I'll give it a try with my other DJI drones.

This feature has been around for awhile. Most people either elect not to use it or are unaware. My Spark with the GO 4 app can do the same thing , albeit only vertical as it only has a 2 axis gimbal.

It is mentioned on page 40 of the manual - albeit the wording could be clearer:

I saw that to enable focus track but this in my opinion is an even better option for certain situations.

Yes you can drag up or down to change the angle of the camera, however you can also move the camera from left or right.

And that’s where the “Recenter Gimbal” option comes in useful whilst flying

I really should read the manual more carefully as I found it on page 28 under "Gimbal Profile".  Cool feature and probably on my other DJI drones but just didn't know until now.

yes, it also does this on the M2Pro/smart controller, touch and hold `till a small blue circle appears and vibrate -  it`ll go where you like. (adjust gimble settings in usual place) I`m not sure what`s the best settings with your camera for cleaner/smoother edges taking video, using yaw or panning the camera. I use this site for my tips and tutorials rather than the basic manual!   58 pages!   I think I was lucky to get 5 in English with M2Pro+SmartController.

Is this in addition to the current fn button option rather than recenter via the down/up action as is?  I've found the finger on screen recentering a bit laggy but could be phone response not gimble function.

I’ve set my Fn button to double click - recenters gimbal

Be aware, however, that when you yaw the camera rather than the aircraft, the only way to know which direction you're flying is a compass needle or visual confirmation. It's very easy to make mistakes without not seeing what's ahead ...

You can practice inside your house dragging the gimbal around.  There is a little lag between gimbal crosshair and finger until your finger stops, but this just makes for slower, smoother gimbal travel which I like when recording.  If you're going to use the FN button I would set the single tap to re-center gimbal and double tap to Aux Light or Map.  I don't see me using the Aux Light or Map that much but I use the re-center gimbal all the time...one tap is easier.

Same as Rustic for me one tap recenter 2 for light on would change to trigger map but no option on my Android.

Yes, it is available to control the gimbal by long pressing in the screen and then dragging, thanks for sharing, hope you enjoy flying.

Very good point, I've seen people loose their mind with this forgetting they switch camera pan angle.

It's a feature that I've used just a handful of times the past 8 years. I believe the P4P has that feature as well........

With the M2P/Z tapping the gimbal up/down button recenters the gimbal, I would guess it works on other models with manual gimbal pan too.

Flormo2002, will have to try that, found it in the manual, wish they would update the Mini2 Manual and Smart Controller Manual.

That's pretty cool intentionally getting the props in the shot. I'll have to try that
