This month Summer is coming, the first for our little Mini(s) so we better be prepared with the latest goodies available and my favourite go to place is Aliexpress. Here's some nice idea I've selected for this summer.


Mavic Mini Floating Kit

What's new compared to the older black kit is that the grey one is lighter (about 30 grams versus 45) and uses smaller floats, thus improving the flying dynamics, but the AC stays a little lower in the water. Not advisable, not DJI approved, but I believe if you have a calm lake with some ducks or some other water surface features it might be a great lasting entertainment. You take off, lower your Mini in the water and wait for your prey to show up. Not only that, I am pretty sure that re-starting the motors at idle you could pretty much make a little hovercraft with it, drifting it back and forward to your liking and hang there for a long time... your flight could last even more than an hour!

You may choose your favourite design but the concept is there to stay: longer sticks will give you finer control, and you can even decide how fine you want it because they can be adjusted. A very nice addition for those that need finer control over movements.

This kit transforms your Mavic Mini into a ramming aircraft. Ok joking aside have you ever noticed that in the unfortunate event of a crash most breakages (beyond gimbal) seem to happen near the arms anchor points? This kit at just 10.5 grams will take care of that. Especially useful if you fly indoors with the Fly more "cage", discharging any additional strain from impact along the braces and onto the body rather than the sensitive articulations.

We all know that Yagi/Udas are a wonderful cheap, effective way of increasing the Aircraft aerial (antenna) performance, but until now the best you could get was a pair of wobbly chipping away 3D printed parts with strands all over the place and leftover colors of some other print. Well... I am not sure how many will need this one but when I've done my own homeworks I discovered the Mini has Steadycam like stabilization much better than my GoPro Hero 6 Black, and the most per pixel detail of all my other small cameras, so why not use it as a hendheld? This pistol shaped grip might be the perfect solution if you need a close to Osmo Pocket quality footage but don't want to invest your money into something you'd only use a couple of times. And if you combine the Mini's footage with an audio recorded from a capable Mobile Device the Remote is linked to, you can really have one of the best stabilized videocamera for an amazing little price. Summer is coming and with that longer days, vacation and outdoor recreation... so why not have a late evening fun with the Mini. While I don't endorse blind flights you could certainly find yourself landing at dusk where a help from a pair of nice marking lights could be quite useful for landing, if anything they may put a good show off. There are models for all pockets, from simple button battery operated models that promise up to 24 hours of light to USB reachargeable lithium ion battery ones. And if you really want to be serious even strobe lights that you can see from several hundred meters of distance.

have you actually used this? I would highly recommend NOT doing this, as the mini has no active cooling source, and mine has shutdown and been extremely hot after just a few minutes of it idling on my desk.

Bracket? No, but I have used my makeshift contraption to make a comparison video and... Mini on the landing gear (search Ax), landing gear strapped to a wood panel, I've never had a problem. And with never had a problem I mean in a well ventilated sunny day outside touching the underbelly of the Mini felt just warm... not very warm or hot like when you do firmware upgrades that you have to forcefully load it w/ it on and motors out, and I resort to keeping the Mini next to my laptop HS exahust to cool it off.

I'm using extended sticks and I like them. Silicone signal booster sounds like a good idea to me...

I only bought some ND´s for MM. But other than that, I also have no idea what kind of stuff I´d mount on it..
I´m also concerned about the weight of all accessoires, I mean not only cause of the 250 grams, but I´d also be afraid the extra stuff weights too much for my MM to carry.

Stick with the drone.
And only buy when 100% sure you need it.
I lost some money in the first weeks 'believing' I needed the extra acc.

Yagi/Uda antenna is for 2.4G or 5.8G?

Those mentioned in the article are 5.8 GHz. 2.4 GHz are less popular since they work on CE model only.
