I was at the beach a couple of weeks ago flying my drone and it started to rain. The Mavic Air 2 is not waterproof; I would not recommend taking it up in heavy rain. However, in my case, the rain was very light, so I felt ok flying it around a little bit.  It was fairly windy, so some of the footage is a little shaky and it was sometimes difficult to fly in a perfectly straight line.

Hi. I would say that you were tempting fate and by doing so the next moisture to get on the drone may be from your tears after crashing it.

Very cool video.  I had mine out recently and on return flight it started to sprinkle.  So upon return I took a hair dryer to it to remove any moisture.  Low heat of course.  LOL.

Would you suggest drying it off like that if it gets any kind of moisture on it? (i.e. mist from clouds, etc.)

Hello there Nolan Silvius. Thank you for reaching out and for posting this beautiful video you have filmed using your DJI Mavic Air 2. In addition, thank you for the reminder that the said drone is not advisable to fly in the rain because it is not waterproof. Again, great work and fly safe always.

Have you been tempted to use these so called wetsuits for the drone to keep it waterproof?

I wish they were also done by DJI but not at present and we have to rely on third parties. However, I would have thought there could be water proofed as claimed there is an argument that if these wetsuits worked so well, even ones where they incorporate the ability to land and take off from water would reduce DJI insurance considerably.

(Oh and when I say the ability to land on water I am not talk into about those funny orange ballasts that look like something out of an Australian outback where helicopters land on water)

First of all, I applaud your courage. But wouldn't rainwater go in between gimbals or motors? Anyway, you have to be sure to clean up afterwards. It might turn out to be a submerged thing when you receive the AS later. That water proof check sticker.

Wow, I see a lot of comments re "brave" etc. but I think stupid or dumb might be a more correct!   So you got away with it this time but of course you have no idea how much moisture got inside the drone and onto the electronics and will now continue the slow but inevitable process of corrosion which could lead to premature drone failure. And of course DJI would be blamed where in fact it would be entirely the result of your silly decision!

Just because you did not have any immediate failure on this flight, you might consider the longer term consequences of your deliberate act of "bravado!!

Good luck with that.

Cheers
