Hi Pilots
A quick video on how to get the best out your D-Cinelike profile and a good base setting to start colour grading your footage:

While this approach to editing D-Cinelike material works, it has significant disadvantages, the biggest of which is that you are wasting much of your adjustment latitude on just normalizing the material. For example, maximizing the contrast setting just to get normal contrast levels leaves no margin to tweak the image further.

Given that the editing tool supports this, applying a LUT to normalize the footage is both easier and more flexible.

This video was made for people who struggle with the D-Cinelike profile.
The most usual response from people to this profile is:
"I cant even get it to begin to look normal, let alone begin to adjust the colour grading on the footage"

So hopefully, If people can see how to bring the image back to a "normal" level first, they then can then start to begin to experiment with their own grading.

My advice to those people is to not use the D-Cinelike profile if they take this approach to normalizing the image, since the Normal color profile is easier to work with and has far greater latitude for adjustments.

Normal mode does not have more room for adjustment over D-Cinelike.

It does if you are wasting all your adjustment range on just getting the picture to look normal. If you want to benefit from D-Cinelike, you must use a LUT.
You're using an NLE that can handle LUTs -- if you want to try that approach, I have created a LUT for the Mavic Air 2 that is free and produces a normalized image:

Applying a LUT is a single step rather than requiring the adjustment of multiple sliders or creating curves. It's easier and more flexible than what you're currently doing.
