Yes, I use my fingers. I used to use my toes but it was difficult to see the screen.

I'm surprised people use #2. Better control I guess?

I come from traditional RC helicopters and you have better control indeed. Initially I used the thumbs only but I realized it was more precise with two fingers and now I can not make a step back.

I alway launch using stick down and inside, I have never used automatic takeoff. Also I have never used hand takeoff, for me it is too dangerous (perhaps I have a too dark view but I know what such a small propeller can do to hands).

I only hand launch when I can't manually take off,  like on a boat, or a surface thats dusty/sandy/long grass etc.

Thumbs on top of the crown. The most sensitive is probably a side push but denies you the freedom of smooth movements to other sides.

Going to buy elongated adjustable sticks for finer control

It would seem difficult to hold phone/ controller and still use pinch, but I have small hands.

The pinch feels natural to me with both the Min and Air2 controllers.  For me, it allows for finer input.

While I believe that the pinch is best for me, we must remain  open to variations. (even when they're nuts!!)

Well I'm still a newbie,  but I use both variations, exactly like on the pic, left hand just thumb,  right hand pinch......

Usually, I pinch, but sometimes I thumb. I think it depends just what I'm doing.

Depends on how long I have to make the same movement.
If it is 'too' long, I use 2.
Otherwise 1

I just got these in the mail, I haven't flown with them yet but they feel very nice and I really like the adjustability.

BTG Adjustable Joysticks

Will report back later after I've gotten some stick time on them, I will say compared to my last set of metal sticks early impressions are strong.

I agree, but then you'd have a lanyard attachment point on the RC so didnt have to juggle holding the RC as well. Its a pity there isnt an attachment point for lanyards on DJi remote controllers. I prefer the precision of thumb and finger.

This all depends on how evolved you are, with opposable thumbs or not, you know ;-)
Personally, I only use the thumbs...not very evolved I guess.

I agree with you that an attachment point is missing.
I have printed this mod ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4028307 ) but not tested yet.

There's a strange story behind the name, HAL!
History says that in chronological order:
However IBM does, HAL will be one step ahead!
H comes before I
A comes before B
L comes before M

Both, depending on how I'm feeling and/or the type of flight control needed.
