I got the first "week signal" warning at about 4300 meters, after adjusted the transmitter orientation I managed to fly 5329 meters far. The FPV signal was still usable, but I need it return due to low battery warning. I will repeat the test in "Normal" flight mode, were the battery should last more (hopefully).
More tests in my in-depth DJI Mavic Air 2 review.
Test parameters:
- CE Version
- Wind: Moderate
- Open field, low RF noise
- Flight mode: Sport
- Flight altitude: 80 meters
- First signal interruptions: 4300 meters
- Max distance: 5329 meters (3.255364 miles)
- Total range test time: 12 minutes
- Start battery level: 100%
- End battery level: 20%
That is a good distance for a CE area though it maxed out at 5239 in the vid and not 5329 - you'd probably get to the 6KM max range for CE in N-mode flying in very light winds.
I was out to 5000m with the Euro version last night. No problems. Signal dropped to 2-3 bars pretty early, but never dropped out. Landed back "home" with 31%. Could have pushed it further, but I'll leave that for another day. There was 5km/h crosswind kinda coming partially against the drone on the way out, and speed was higher returning. I'm new to drones and this thing thing is impressing me a lot.
Hello there FirstQuadcopter. Thank you for reaching out and for sharing this range test video you have created for the DJI Mavic Air 2. Great work and thank you for your support.
