Question: any idea if controllers from other brands can connect to the Ronin-S? Like a PS4 controller from another brand. Or maybe even an Nvidia Shield controller.

I can't help you with that. As you can see, I used an original controller. You would have to try out whether a "replica" works. I doubt whether the price difference is worth it. I wish you success!
