The area has been inhabited since ancient times. According to the findings, there were small settlements in the area of the current location of the village dating from the Mycenaean and Hellenistic periods, while the ruins of a medieval castle have been found on a nearby hill. The village was created in its current location near the sea when the inhabitants were sure that they were not in danger from invaders and was liberated by the Turks in 1835. The inhabitants of the small settlements that existed around the mountains gathered in Pili. Great looting and destruction took place in the village during the Greek-German war.
To the right and left there are two large mountains and between them a small bay that looks like a gateway to the Aegean. The beach of the village is mainly sandy with scattered pebbles and is quite deep.
