I just purchased the Smart Controller with the intent of using it with my one week old mavic air 2. I made that decision based on the well known statement indicating the firmware was on the way in a couple weeks. Anyway here I sit with a $750 paper weight. I tried contacting DJI but all you get is a computer generated response "Following the County of Los Angeles "Safer at Home Order For Control of COVID-19" and the Executive Order from the State of California to stay at home, and in following the guidance on how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 from the California Department of Public Health, we regret to inform you that we have decided to minimize our repair operations in California. Some product repairs and shipment times are expected to be delayed or suspended. Thank you for your understanding and support."Following the County of Los Angeles "Safer at Home Order For Control of COVID-19" and the Executive Order from the State of California to stay at home, and in following the guidance on how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 from the California Department of Public Health, we regret to inform you that we have decided to minimize our repair operations in California. I keep hearing people say that DJI had said a couple of weeks for the firmware, but I've personally never seen anything directly from DJI say that. Do you have a link to a quote where DJI said that?
From day 1, the Mavic Air 2 FAQ (https://www.dji.com/mavic-air-2/faq) has said this on this topic:
"Is Mavic Air 2 compatible with the Smart Controller?
Yes. Mavic Air 2 will be compatible with the Smart Controller through a future firmware update."
Everywhere I've seen DJI talk about this, they have been very non-specific on the timeline. |
