So, my project for the day was a flight over the confluence of two rivers, not far from home.

Due diligence observed – visit the interactive government website to ensure that drone flying is OK.

Pre-flight checks, OK.  Good to go. About nine minutes into the flight, cruising at 40m AG, well below

the permitted ceiling height allowed in the area,I hear the sudden roar of

jet engines and, before I can react, TWO fighter jets zoom overhead and are gone. Didn’t even see ‘em.

When editing the footage the following day, I was astonished to see that I had been well and truly “buzzed”.

Since I was flying into the sun, and they were coming directly the opposite way, there was nothing to be seen.

But on the ground, two shadows bracket my path. Blink and you'll miss ‘em.

One to the right a couple of seconds in, and the other to the left about 5 seconds later.

Pretty sure they weren’t looking for me, though   Just a coincidence.

They were probably Rafales heading back to their base somewhere to the north-west.

They fly all over this part of France, practising manoeuvres, sometimes several times a week.

I doubt they publicly log a flight plan, for obvious reasons.

How wrong can you be! Just a few days ago, FOUR of them bracketed me - over a national monument! - and I got two of 'em on film this time. Very small and quick, but they're here:
