Many developers and users of the Mavic Mini would have liked to have seen Waypoints supported, but the reality is that currently it is not available.  What developers can do instead to achieve automated flight on the Mini, is use Virtual Sticks.  If you'd like to study about how to get started in this direction, please see the following resources:

Litchi has delivered  a beta version with Mini support. However, several key features have not been implemented, particularly Mission.

Here is the response I received as a beta tester.

“Hi,

DJI decided not to enable waypoint and orbit support for the mavic mini in the SDK. This means that our standard waypoint/orbit mode won't work.
In a future update, we hope to add a custom waypoint mode for mavic mini but it will have limitations such as if signal is lost the mission ends. But that is why we left it in the menu for now.”

Thanks Tandemist for updating everyone about Litchi support of the Mavic Mini.  

Also, just to note - the MSDK team did not *decide* to exclude Missions....they can't, since the firmware and hardware of the drone do not support these functions.

Yes, that is very likely the reason why!

But is their a chance that some form of “missions” will be added in the future for the mini??  It's is extremely disappointing not to have the most useful feature available, I regret buying the mini because of it. I use Dronelink for that but would much prefer to continue using Litchis waypoints and app

Even if they were to do it, it would operate in a completely different way to the existing waypoint mission option in Litchi. Like Dronelink, Litchi would need to use the "virtual sticks" feature of the SDK with the Mini. The mission would be controlled in real time entirely by the phone/tablet rather than uploading it to the drone.
