Camera Aperture Stuck at 2.8 in all modes
Uploading and Loding Picture ...(0/1)

Hi Guys,

I have had my drone for a long time (never really flown it much) but I am in big need of a way out for this one. Driving me crazy.

To prioritise the video mode:

The f-stop shows me a range from 2.8-11 etc, and I can scroll to any number. However, as soon as I let go, it jumps straight back to f2.8 again. Is there are straightforward fix for this? I have had it in the different modes (Auto, A, S, M). I am very comfortable with cameras and settings, but the drone set-up is killing me.

Anyone have any advice on this aperture issue? I am flying the Phantom 4 Advanced with iPhone XR.

Thanks a million.

Leslie

I seem to be all good on compatibility with i03 13.xxx and the iPhone xr. I have had no other issues with the drone besides this. Records and caches to the phone perfectly. Connection great on start up etc. It is just the aperture issue which was also present when I had an Android device last year. I am probably missing something small.

Thanks for that. I have checked this out earlier today and I decided to screen record my issue. Apologies for the awful ratio, but you can see how when I slide to an aperture it does not stay fixed like this video.

Does it behave the same way if you switch to stills rather than video?

Hello there Leslie. I am sorry for the trouble this has caused and thank you for reaching out. Are you able to try using a different recommended mobile device to see if the issue will still persist. For reference I will post the list of recommended mobile devices for the DJI Phantom 4 Advanced. Please keep us posted. Thank you.

I've been here quite a bit longer and I've rarely seen a moderator provide a (helpful) answer to any problem.

Hi there,

Yes for the most part. The difference though is that when in Auto, I can manipulate the camera by bumping the iso up to atleast show the camera is capable of going to higher f-stop numbers.

In A mode, it is the exact same...
M mode was actually not letting me use it at all but I'm not fussed. Video is the cry for help!

I know the feeling ...  Have a great day , a live chat here for questions would be a solution although we would be the same ones that responded ...

Hey Stephen, I just tried it with an iPhone 7 fully updated and the same issue came about. I have also used this drone with 2 Androids before. I don't think they were on the recommended list, but they performed the exact same. (everything was working except for control of the aperture)

I'm sorry ... I've attempted to watch your crazy sideways, overexposed, too fast screen video 3 times and can't make sense of what you are doing (or trying to do).
It's just not clear whether you have a real problem or don't know what you are doing.

Has the camera worked previously?
Have you tried using the click/wheel on the controller to set the aperture?
Have you tried to reset the camera to factory defaults and start from there/

Understandable. The first video is to show the initial issue (30sec onwards) where I scroll to put the camera on a higher f-stop, but it automatically jumps back to 2.8 every time.

The second video is showing the camera in Photo mode. Basically, the exact same happens. All I am showing here is that the camera CAN go to a higher f-stop number. This is shown when the camera is in Auto mode, I boosted the ISO all the way up to force the camera to adjust the f-stop, which it did. So the second video shows the drone is capable of using higher f-stops, it just doesn't let me select them.

Sorry for the sideways screen, Youtube picked it due to it being a screen recording, and the Over-exposure was just to get the f-stop higher.

1. The camera has always had this issue. I never used the drone much and just compensated with a high shutter speed to find exposure. Everything else is all good. Unless this is not an issue and I am missing something basic here...

2. Click wheel does the same. It changes as I scroll, but reverts straight back to f2.8 about 1 second later.

3. I jut reset the camera to factory default and unfortunately no joy there.

Thanks for the help so far

If that doesn't help and you've never had the camera working properly, it would suggest a genuine problem that unfortunately won't be fixed by a few clicks.
