Does anyone know if there is any prospect for a future release of the Fly App that will include waypoints? Althoug the Mavic Air 2 is a step up from the Mavic Pro in terms of camera quality and video capabilities, the lack of waypoints in the Fly app is a significant hindrance to taking advantage of them!

Unfortunately correct. MA2 does not support waypoints except in very partial form as part of hyperlapse. And Litchi does not support the MA2 (yet??). So we're outta luck until something changes.

Looks like the SDK Release recently included the Mini so there's potential there for 3rd party Apps, however DJI limited in the SDK what you can do with the Mini.  In terms of Waypoints the closest you can get for the mini is what is known as virtual joystick e.g. the app controls the drone's flight to specific waypoints etc.  This differs significantly to Waypoints in Litchi which uses very specific data waypoints and instructions that are uploaded to the drone for the drone to fly autonomously, without being dependent upon an RC connection.  Ne interesting to see if they do the same for the Air 2 SDK release.

Major disappointment
Waypoints are a much needed feature. Assume MA2 is being gobbled on purpose to sell more Pro models?
No point in waiting for this feature through the SDK either. If it was going to support waypoints they would know by now, and saying so instead of offering a Twitter feed while we wait...
