Thank you. Maybe Premiere does, but I use Davinci Resolve version 14, which only does H.264. Though I
believe version 16 does H.265
Dunno, my friend recommends DaVinci to me. But I spent hours learning Premiere and doesn't ready for changes.

Whichever Software is used, there's a long learning curve, I agree. Changing to a different one would mean adapting to a new framework, and take some time.
That's the one I tried, with unsatisfactory results, unfortunately.
But I won't make the same mistake with the H.264 setting again, so hopefully the need won't arise.
I may try to update Davinci Resolve from 14 to 16.
That would be the solution.

What was unsatisfactory? The colour or smoothness of playback?
The output was much compressed from the original, and there were artefacts in the video (wavy lines for telephone wires, etc which were not present in the original.) The software I eventually used gave a satisfactory result, apart from the watermarking in the free demo version.

Sounds like you just needed to use a different preset in handbrake for the output format.

Perhaps, yes. I tried twice at the highest settings I could find, getting the same artefacts each time, then lost patience with it. So I tried the other software with better results, but with the watermark.
I've abandoned both programs now and I don't expect to need that function again. I'll make SURE that my RC settings are at H.264 before I launch
