The Mersey Gateway Bridge is a toll bridge between Runcorn and Widnes in Cheshire, England which spans the River Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal. The crossing, which opened in October 2017, is approximately 1.5 km east of the older Silver Jubilee Bridge.

This is a view across the estuary from just above the ruins of Halton Castle, with the new crossing in the background. Taken in 2019.

Thanks QQ. Here is the view in the opposite direction. In the foreground is St.Mary's church, which faces the castle and public house across the courtyard. Further down, to the left, is the ornate Holy Trinity Methodist Church, and in the distance is the sprawling complex of Runcorn Shopping City.
