At the confluence of the Goyt and Sett rivers in Derbyshire, deep in the gorge which divides the town of New Mills,
there is a hydro-electric installation where a water-driven Archimedes' Screw drives a 47KWh  turbine. It produces
enough power to supply a nearby supermarket with its entire electricity requirement.
In the shot below, the screw device is in the cage beside the weir.
