thanks AeroNW.  They used to be part of a WW2 aircraft base, beyond that I don't know too much about them.  The Nissan hut is a common site in the UK, they are often left abandoned.  Sometimes the hangers are what we call listed buildings which means they cannot be removed deliberately.  The site used to look like this during the war -
