Some close-quarter flying practice with the P4. I was concentrating hard on keeping the skids out of the water
when I became aware of the guy stood behind me, watching. He'd approached by the riverside path unheard.
We had a chat for a while, and he was quite happy to accept a bit-part in the video as he carried on upstream.

I don't blame you mate - you'd probably lose signal and enter RTH if you had tried

The amount of drones lost under bridges back in the day was quite high - I recall seeing several vids on YT.

Yes I've seen horror stories too.  I've wondered if one was to fly under, say, a relatively narrow bridge in Sport mode, momentum would carry the drone past the null signal point under the bridge before the RTH could activate.  We need a volunteer .........

Probably not but if flying the MA2 within 20 metres of your position it will return at the same altitude and retrace 50m back on itself in the direction it flew from so if in closer range the MA2 should technically not fly up but out of the bridge. If further than 20 metres, well, your theory may work but I'm not volunteering

Or what about a pre-programmed waypoints mission with the track passing under the bridge?  The drone doesn't need contact with the RC to complete a mission once it's uploaded. And if obstacle sensing was turned off?  Brave talk I know, but I'm reluctant to back it up with action

An option in the RTH configuration is hover flight....  this prevents the drone from rising, to do the RTH

Thanks. Yes it's only an hour's walk from home, but with the P4 to lug about I did in the car which is about 5 minutes   There's some great walks along the riverbank.
