Hi, I have recently purchased a DJI Phantom 3 Professional and I am having some issues with it.

When trying to connect the controller to the aircraft the LED light on the controller button is never solid green, it is always flickering red and green, so I am unable to fly it.

I have tried to install numerous firmware’s to both the aircraft and controller but all of them fail.

Furthermore, the DJI Go app does not recognise my controller or aircraft and just says ‘how to connect’ and never ‘camera view’.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

My first thought is send it back where you bought it and ask for a refund!
Lot of questions come to mind -
How was the drone described where you bought it?
What are the back lights on the drone doing?
What are you running the Go App on?

Did the batteries charge up all right?

I’m thinking that myself!, it was off eBay never flown. Still had all the packaging on.

I thought djiuser_aew0XQa5IpGz was the OP? Confusing?
Flashing yellow is good, just means the drone is initialising and waiting to bind to the contraller.
If it has never been flown it's possible you need to reset the RC and then link the RC to the AC.

Reset the RC:
With RC OFF, press and hold C1 & C2 at the back of the RC and the shutter button and keep them pressed while turning the RC on.

To LINK the RC/AC -
Turn on the AC and RC and press the Link Button on the AC. This will turn RED waiting to link
On the RC Press C1 & C2 and the Record button, the RC should BEEP.
Let go the three buttons and pree the WHEEL on the RH side of the RC. The LH light on the RC should turn BLUE and the controiller will BEEP - . .   - . .  - . . (D in morse code)
The RC will stopo beeping and the Link button on the AC will turn GREEN if the link was successful.

Hi apologies for the confusion I changed my name to JF-2000.

Thanks for your instructions and I have followed them. However, this hasn’t changed anything. When connecting the RC to AC the green light on the controller stays on for about a second and then flickers continuously red and green.

I am able to move the camera around and record footage but I can’t see the camera through the app because I can’t connect the RC or AC to it.

Thanks

Heres a video just in case you didn't quite get it right.
The red/green light simply says it's not connected to the drone - no data link which is why I suggested the link procedure.
Ummm..........thinki

Did you get a manual with it by any chance?  Heres the link......

Thanks for the video, I did follow the instructions and it didn’t work. When setting up the controller to pair with the AC it flashes blue as normal. When I press the pair button on the AC it pairs but the AC pair button light flashes green and red, this is also the same for the controller.

Thanks for helping me out with this, it is much appreciated

So they are not linking! At this moment I don't have the answer for that. Hopefully the DJI cooperative will see the thread and step in...............

If it is a P3P, then thge procedure to update the aircraft firmware is to copy the firmware file to the SD card using your PC, then place the card back in the aircraft and power it on. Unfortunately, there dozens of things that can go wrong with getting a P3P up and going, what phone or tablet are you using on the RC unit?

It's very important that the firmware installed on the AC and RC are compatible. Many people have issues like this using miss matched firmware. Also the method up doing the updates matters, on the AC it should be via the Micro SD card I believe.

I have been following the instructions on the guide you have provided but I can’t check to see what firmware the RC and AC are on through the DJI go app as I can’t connect the RC or Ac to it.

When updating it does the beeps as normal but then about 30 seconds in it it goes D—————-

Try this:
Put very old copy of  firmware on SD-card.
Start the drone like you wanted firmware to update.

If the firmware is older than current (and no special files were created to force update), then no update will happen. But the drone will write information about version of each module to a log file on SD-card.

So this should tell us what's where!

It may be the controller then. I’ll try and update that see what happens.

I believe you need Remote Controller firmware v1.9.2 and App 3.2.50 to be all compatible with the latest drone version.

Hello there JF-2000. I am sorry to read and to know that you are having issues with your DJI Phantom 3 Pro. As posted above please try checking the firmware of both the DJI drone and the said drone's remote controller is on its most recent one. In addition, I understand that you are using an iPhone XS Max as a mobile device. Can you please try using a different mobile device. After checking the said mobile device ( iPhone XS Max ) that your are using on your DJI Phantom 3 Pro and with the DJI Go application. I am sorry to say that the said mobile device is not recommended for the said drone and with the said application. We would suggest using a recommended mobile device for the DJI Phantom 3 Pro and with the DJI Go application for compatibility and reliability purposes. There is a possibility that the iPhone XS Max will be able to work on the DJI Phantom 3 Pro and with the DJI Go application. But however, since it's not yet optimized with the said drone and with the said application we cannot guaranteed if it will work all the time and if it will be able to run all the functions of the DJI Go application while using it on the DJI Phantom 3 Pro. For reference, I will post a the list of recommended mobile devices for the DJI Phantom 3 Pro. Please keep us posted for further assistance. Thank you.

Hi Stephen, is there a way to find out the controller firmware without using the DJI go app?

I have been putting the update on an SD card and putting it in the controller via a usb adaptor but the blue light doesn’t seem to come on to show that the update is taking place.

I did read that you can update the controller via the aircraft by plugging it in using the micro USB port. Should I try this?

Thanks

I have tried my work mobile which is a android and I couldn’t connect to the p3p however you could click on camera view on the inspire but it will just say disconnected so the controller wasn’t recognised or the aircraft.

It was just a block screen too, you couldn’t see out the camera.

Just an update:

I spoken to drone doctor and explained my issues and they have said it sound like there’s a problem with the controllers firmware and there could also be a problem with the USB port as all the phones tried are not recognising the controller.

They said the best thing to do is to send it in to a diagnosis.

There is a common fault occurring on many P3's controllers and that is a dry joint on the USB circuit board.
Very easy to check, remove the small back cover.
Carefully un plug the ribbon cables.
Remove the three Philips screws and lift the circuit board out.
Turn it over and carefully check the four soldered joints for the USB port - if in doubt just re solder them.

There's a good YouTube video for this procedure along with the resources required.

Fact is that after not being in use for prolonged periods, the GL300A (P3S/A/P) controllers need their COM board to be re-flashed.  I am about to attempt the same for my P3A controller.
