There appears to be a number of videos on YouTube whereby different Mavic Air 2 pilots have different firmware versions following recent updates - which one are you on? Please note that this is the firmware on the drone and NOT the version of the fly app which we all know is 1.1.6 now. 01.00.250 is the official FW released in June 2020 that most remain on but the other two seem to be pending updates.
Please add comments on this thread if you notice a firmware update pending and which version it is.   


EDIT: New firmware 01.00.0340 released today! Be sure to sync the batteries too after updating! Loads of new features including digital zoom.

All the guys that seemed to get the new fw were also early beta testers. Their drones' SN probably remained in DJI's database and they are still receiving early beta firmwares.

Why would DJI allow beta firmware to be seen other than create demand ergo people want it else beta testers would be gagged and not allowed to show it. DJI have enough feedback on both the fly app and drone its only natural people want changes as early as possible.  I'd suggest we are constantly beta testing anyway given the varied screen devices in use around the world.

It is only those that were gifted a pre-release version who have been given access to the newer firmware updates.  Everybody else will be on .0250 until they officially release the newer version.  It is based upon their login info, not on serial number of the hardware.  My guess is that someone at DJI messed up and forgot those users were still in the beta group and were inadvertently given these new test versions.

Thats a good explanation - good to see what's coming but I think there is more than the beta testers are showing - if you notice the 4K option in the camera settings now has the word 'WIDE' written under it following the 1.1.6 app release - makes no difference to the footage on the current FW but perhaps the new FW may give us another 4K option.

I'm on .340.

I've just updated to .340 and we have digital zoom and wide angle + the other extras! Awesome! Note that the Zoom doesnt work in HDR video mode.
Note too that you will also need to sync each of your additional batteries to match the new FW.
Time to head out and test it!

Just been out and done three back-to-back flights on the new firmware! Flawless and I've finally tweaked my sensitivity settings of the gimbal and YAW to how I like them.

The zoom feature is awesome too. I'm also pleased to confirm that whilst cruising in Sport mode at 42MPH the gimbal didn't drop once at zero degrees to the horizon!

BTW the thunderstorms are not due until Wednesday afternoon. Then rain showers everyday for over a week. TBH I'm going to stand out in it - flying today was like sitting in an oven - batteries reached 60c... Thank God they didn't melt!

Yeah, after you're updated the firmware on the AC and RC when you put another battery in wait for the FW pop up at the home page to sync the FW onto that battery so it's consistent with the drone. Repeat for all additional batteries.

The image quality isn't the best in 1080p X4 zoom but 4K and 2.7K X2 zoom is really good. Thunderstorms not due to start until Wednesday mate - so you should be good for the next couple of evenings.

Your comment about the battery is interesting. I didn't see anything about a battery firmware update when I installed .340 yesterday, but I just powered up my MA2 with all three batteries. I let the drone sit for a minute or two and then also went into the About screen to manually check for an update.

Only one of my three batteries needed an update.

On a related note, after I updated my MA2 yesterday, I did notice a moving LED pattern on the Remote Controller that seemed to indicate an update to its firmware was in progress. That was after the MA2 had updated and rebooted.

Yeah, all 4 of my batteries needed to be updated after installing the FW. Turn it all on and leave it on the home page (picture with the drone on it) and you should get a pop up after ten seconds or so.

Thanks for reminding about the batteries.  I think your survey has been overcome by events.  I now have the latest firmware, but I previously voted so your poll is going to be inaccurate.  Maybe best to start another, huh???
