Today is my lucky day. My Mavic Air 2 crashed into the tree and landed safely with a few scratches on one of the propellers.  Next time, I should be award of the trees around.

I used "Brake" mode of Obstacle Avoidance after updated Mavic Air 2 firmware to v0340 and updated DJI Fly to v1.1.6.    While I did ActiveTrack  (Orbit mode) and approaching a tree,  MA2 hovered as expected (but I lost control of MA2, I cannot pull up my MA2).  After 2 seconds hovering, MA2 crushed into the tree. It seems like a "Bug" of Obstacle Avoidance in the latest version of firmware/DJI Fly. Should  I use "Bypass" mode instead of "Brake" mode.  Any advice?

There's no sensor on the side. So it won't work anyways if you fly it sidewise.

2. If used "Brake" mode of Obstacle Avoidance on DJI Flay (v1.1.6), MA2 controller left / right functon would be disable.  That's a problem !

Brake mode is another term for obstacle avoidance. As the other forum member stated - the drone has no obstacle avoidance sensors to the side. It is physically impossible for the drone to see left and right.

The new flight assistance feature in the app prevents you from simply manually flying the drone in a left/right roll through flight restriction and not obstacle avoidance. When flying forward/backward only in the mode the drone uses Bypass (new term for APAS) to steer itself around obstacles in its forward path - it still will not be able to see obstacles to the left and right.

When the drone is using an automated intelligent flight mode like point of interest 3.0 you need to ensure that there are no obstacles in the circumference of the drones path before starting or it will crash if you don't emergency stop the drone beforehand.
