I'd like to know what we had before firmware 340...was it wide or 1x???  To me 1X is confusing because the power of 1 shouldn't change anything.  So is that what we always had before and Wide actually digitally shows more???

Another way of asking this is which one is digitally enhanced/altered???  Wide or 1X???

Was this question's answer too obvious and you don't want to embarrass me???

I think Wide is the original and it works as it should.
But to be able to zoom it has to do something with the analogy of the resolution so it has to make some adjuststments to the Primary res (1x) to able to zoom in properly.
Thats why it looks different (a little zoomed in) than the original Wide mode.
I hope that it makes some sense what I just wrote.

It does if you're correct...thanks for the input.

Just simply check it with 4k 60fps, wide is the same as 4k60 x2 is simply double x1 (x0 double is still x0) if you double 0 you get 0 so x1 is the starting point and this is the same with all dji drones that offer digital zoom.

Well you really lost me there...if I took a video last week before the 340 update (regardless of FPS), what would it compare to today??? Wide or 1X??? I’m talking about what you actually see in the frame.

For example, this morning I took different videos of a row of houses (drone was perpendicular to the row).  In 4K Wide, I got 6 houses in the frame, 4K 1X was 4 1/2 houses, and 4K 2X was 2 houses.  All were taken in 4K 30fps. Look at the bottom row of the photo.  If I'd taken the same video last week, how many houses would be in the frame???  Which new mode (Wide or 1X) gives me the same coverage in the frame as last week's frame???  Which new mode is untouched by digital zoom???

1x is what you had last week. Go down to last FW and check.

I didn't test it yet, but I would bet 4K Wide is what we had before the firmware update. As hallmark stated, this is easily testable. Just use 4K60, which doesn't support zoom. I bet it will be the same as 4K wide @ 30. The 4K zoom resolution in the app is the new one. The old one (renamed from 4K to 4K wide) has not changed.

I don't think that's right, 4K wide is what we had last week. 1X is already slightly zoomed in.

Well, Reply 6 is what confused me when you said "wide is the same as 4K60 x2" and  "x1 is the starting point".  I think the starting point is Wide and it is what we had last week...and there is no digital zoom effect taking place. Makes sense when there is a separate icon labelled Zoom which leads me to believe once and only when you're in that mode is digital zoom being used. Then, 1x is a very slight zoom as Ice_2k said and we graduate up from there. We're probable all saying the same thing...I'm just not processing it well.  Thanks for your help.

I think I simply left comma out. I meant check out 4k60, wide is the same as 4k60. X2 is simply double x1. So apologies my bad English . But to know what you had last week was simply look at 4k 60 as this did not change with latest FW.

I also checked the file size for each of the captured frames and have them added to the previous jpeg I posted.
