It is the highest mountain in Busan and represents Busan, measuring 801.5 m in height from Geumjeong-gu, Buk-gu, Busan, and Dongmyeon, Yangsan-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. It used to be the epicenter of the former East Island Guard, but now it has become a mountain in the middle of the city center as the city of Busan expanded. The accessibility is so good that many hikers visit. Especially on weekends, there are more hikers on Geumjeongsan Mountain than on the quiet streets of the city.
Busan Metro Line 2 and Yangsan Urban Railway are surrounded by urban railroads like Namsan.
The rock is exposed and the mountain is wild and attractive when opened. The longest mountain fortress in Korea extends to the ridges of the mountain. Although Geumjeongsanseong Fortress has been restored due to its foundation remaining throughout the turbulent era, even low stone walls exist as part of a wild landscape resembling Geumjeongsan Mountain.
