That is very true.

They appear be making lakes inn the holes at the moment,  not sure what will happen in the long term.

Some countries have rules for how a miner has to return the pit after leaving it.

Most of the other areas were turned into lakes.  I think there was a picture of it somewhere that I posted.

Sounds like the most logical way.
I am not sure how the water will be for wildlife since it is quite deep (unnaturally deep for a lake maybe)

It will probably take many years for it to be safe for wild life too..

I remember some of these deep small lakes (man made) here in NL and that were actually quite 'dead' because the conditions were not good for fish etc.

We have some here that are almost Caribbean blue but the water is really acidic,  In the summer the police have taken to dying the water black to put people off going in it and getting burnt or worse.

lol,  that would be ironic.  years ago they probably would have used it for rubbish.   There is an old victorian landfill near me that used to have underground fires every summer,  it was disgusting.
