I have been reading through the websites and cannot determine if the various camera filters (ND, etc) are included with the Inspire 1 or will be for sale as an accessory?  Thank you in advance for any insight on this.  

Mine came with one ND filter.  It is a preproduction unit so I cannot say for sure.  It looks like it is a .9 filter.

I believe a .9 filter produces a 3-stop reduction in light hitting the lens. Any idea why this is necessary?
Jumping to fact-less conclusions, I suppose it could suggest the camera is optimized for low light shooting and therefore requires an ND filter for daylight shooting. And the upside could be that nighttime shooting, sans the ND filter, could be much improved over the Phantom 2 V+, which is pretty poor in low light.

I use a ND filter to put my DSLR cameras in the sweet spot of the f-stop.  That gives me the greatest depth of focus.  The Inspire is better in low light conditions than the V+.

Filter thread specs would be greatly appreciated.  

I need a circular polarizer (CP), preferably one that adds several stops of neutral density (ND).  Second choice would be stackable CP and ND set, but far less desirable, as I'm certain the gimbal gains are calibrated to the use of a single filter.

Looks like the threads are 22mm. Not much on the market in that size.  I am sure in 6 months time we will have some after market options.
