Le Moulin de Vaux, and the Carp fishing lake beside it, lie just in the Mayenne (Pays de la Loire). The road running diagonally is the border between that region and  ille et Vilaine (Brittany).  
The village in the distance is Le Loroux.  Locals call this spot the gateway to Brittany.

Well there's a walking route round part of the lake which we take occasionally, and in doing so we stop for a chat.  I offered to do him a little drone video, we got invited to lunch... and so it goes

There is a French equivalent:   Institut Geographique National (IGN) and their Serie Bleu is pretty detailed.
In addition, in most (if not all) areas you can go into the local Mairie or Syndicat D'initiatif and acquire maps of local walking paths for a few euros.

I didnt realise Town halls sold maps,  Ive always struggled to get detailed maps like the O/S maps when in Europe.

The town hall maps are just for little walks around their parrish. The Serie Bleu is the one you want for the Grand Randonnee

It's difficult to get the shot, but after a while I got the angle, the sunlight on the lake and the drone at the right height to spot the carp basking in the sun, just under the surface. If you look closely you can pick them out.

He tells me the biggest one they pulled out was 46Kgs - it took two of them to lift it out.  Mind you, fishermen and their tales
