This part of France is very Eco-aware, and I have posted images already of windfarms and solar farms from around here, together with hydro-electric installations.
The latest initiative is to install bio-digesters to which the surrounding farmers bring their slurry and excess vegetable matter to produce methane for use as fuel.
In the picture, the installation to the left is the recently opened bio-digester and methane storage facility.

Yes it's a very eco-conscious area. Apart from extensive recycling, there are wind farms, fields of solar arrays, a hydro-electric dam, and now biofuel production. Also more and more electric car charging points are sprouting. I think the aim is for a minimal carbon footprint for the department.

Sure they do - but there's always plenty left over

As a very young child I ran through a farmers field and onto a tarmac road to see the poppies,  unfortunately I discovered the tarmac was made from slurry.  I had two parents that were not very happy.

They really weren't impressed with me,  but I was only about 5 years old.
