I can tell you guys that I love DJI and have purchased almost all of their products from the beginning and currently run a handful of Inspire 1's for work but every feature we all want on the Inspire was just announced a week ago for the 3DR Solo. It hurt me to preorder one but I did it anyway.
The way I figure it I'm running the latest firmware and still do not have POI which is basic stuff these days. The Solo does that out of the box. I buy my Inspire's from a dealer because I want to support his business, so unlike many who buy them online to avoid taxes I end up paying sales tax on mine. Then with a Nexus 7 LTE tablet and several large capacity batteries I'm up to right around $4,000 a unit.
I know I'll have to take out the fisheye at post but I can live with that. In Premier Pro you're looking at about x4 longer to render a video from the 4 black vs the DJI 4k camera but it's manageable. Heck, just before we started buying Inspires's like crazy I was running P2 v2's with an H4-3D and a Gopro 4 Black, so I've already been down that road.
With the Solo, three axis gimbal, nexus 7 LTE tablet and a Gopro 4 Black I'm at about $2,200 a unit with all the flight modes that we have been begging DJI for.
I'm not jumping on DJI too badly here either. The quality they put into each product is phenomenal. The Inspire looks like it was something that NASA built. I'm sure to keep at least one around as well because it really is beautiful and fly's like a dream. |
