A few images from the 'Bocage' Mayennais. A word which doesn't seem to have a literal translation
but describes the rural countryside of this area.

Hi Woe. Thanks. In shot number three, there's a small brown spot centre field near the bottom of the pic.
That was a roe deer running across the field from right to left. Even on the video it was hard to see, from 50m up.

I've run the video through again and I'm not sure they are roe deer. I think they may be hare. There are two, running across from right to left. A smaller one first, then a second'larger one breaks cover a bit later. I've clipped out the 25 seconds or so. WIll upload it to YT and add the link here.

Yes it's idyllic. Bocage means, essentially, arable land edged with hedges and woodland.
I've uploaded at video clip of two animals crossing my path, far below. I thought at first they were roe deer, but I now think they may have been hare.

Rabbits are almost extinct in these parts. these are definitely four-legged. We have foxes too which are about the same size as hare.  It will remain a mystery I think.

The hunting season has just opened as well.  They'll be letting fly at anything that moves soon.  I'm a bit wary of droning during this period

It's perhaps a little more varied for scenery down there. Here it's just miles of gently rolling countryside.

Guns and drones don't mix well mate - one of the farmers near to me enjoy shooting on his land on Sunday mornings - I always fly in the opposing direction

Same here - seems to be quite a few cases in the US but not in the UK as to be expected. Immediate prison sentence here.

Hunters in these parts seem to prefer four-legged game. Wild boar, roe deer and hare seem to be the predominant targets - and foxes of course. Rabbits are scarce in this area.

Nothing like that around here (as far as I know) - mainly birds though killing animals for sport isn't my thing.

Plenty of money in it mate - very much a traditional sport in the upper classes including both the aristocracy and Royalty.
