Took a few family members out on the boat last weekend for a cruise and had a chance to get some amazing pics of a seal with my Mavic Mini right before out of NOWHERE a GIGANTIC flock of Terms scrambled into the air and started dive-bombing the drone in an obvious effort to drive off the UNUSUAL suspected predator!!!

The seals seemed completley unphased by the MM and were even a bit interested in it, and actualy the Terns were cool for a few minutes while the drone was low ( less than 6-8  feet above water ). It wasn't until I went to do a "dronie" shot of the scene and gained some altitude that the birds were stirred up.

Thanks Depp!! They are SERIOUSLY cute little critters!!!  They were really playful that day too... it's a drag I had to land. I had 3 batteries with me and only got to fly for 3:29

Thanks Blériot53.. Hahahahaha yeah, outnumbered is an understatement LOL. The whole flock was taking turns dive-bombing the Mini in a conveyor belt like fashion so there was a pressure constant on the "predator" they were trying to drive off. It would have been really cool to watch if my MM wasn't in such peril

I've had a few run ins lately with seagulls,   It all gets a bit stressful.

I find myself flying around them quite a bit and was really concerned at first, but thankfully so far they don't seem to give a rat's a__ about the MM, much to my delight!!!

Pretty good photos. Was the drone never attacked by the birds, cause there seemed to be a lot of them.

Thanks so much!!  So, they were aggressively harassing the drone, but never actually got within a few feet of it... just repeated close "dive bombing runs" past it... I was definitely in panic mode cuz of how many birds there were!! LOL

I would've been worried too! Luckily your drone wasn't destroyed.

Hey thanks FlipOK... Really glad you like them!  So, I live in a place surrounded by water on 3 sides and dotted with ponds/lakes/tidal wetlands... some of the MOST picturesque scenery is around and OVER water.  That's one reason I've waited so long to get a drone. The Mini was finally at a price point I was willing to risk it and had a feeling I'd be able to get good enough quality out of it to make it worth while!!

Honestly, there was NO INDICATION there were so many birds sitting on the island, you could NOT see them until they took flight!


WAIT TILL YOU SEE THE WHALE VIDEO I JUST MADE!!!!!  I'll post a link once I've gotten it uploaded.

That's great. Any idea of the depth out there? Looks like only maybe 20-30 ft at times.
