Aloha Xvtbqz,
Nice effort. You did not spook the camel, that is important! Elephants, on the other hand are very scared of drones, which may be because they sound like angry bees. And angry bees can sting the soft parts of an elephant's butt, ears, mouth and eyes. Not pleasant. Apparently elephants and bees have a history. I think the elephants like the bee's honey, so they are always guilty!
Another note, if you think you might want to get close and curious with the camel, get down below eye level. (Be sure you have the escape plan - up and out of there - prepared before you attempt something like this, like no trees above you.) With any wild animal, if your "body" is below eye level, there is less of a threat to the animal. Nice thing about camels is that they are tall and for drones that helps clear bushes.
A way to coax the camel to come to you is to approach the camel below eye level and once the camel notices you, in essence you get the camel's attention, stop and back slightly away (no bushes behind you). Go forward a little bit and then back away, repeatedly while staying below eye level. This will reduce the perception of a threat by the camel of your Mini. You will notice the camel smell the air and really look your Mini over. Then the camel will approach your Mini. Then you might want to rise up above eye / head level and prepare to go higher. Keep an eye, on your part, on the camel's hips because the camel may rear up and possibly try to sniff closely to your Mini. That might hurt the camel if there is contact and that can be a problem. But think of the great footage you could get!
If you regularly interact with this camel, the camel might like the feeling of the downdraft of wind on its head and end up welcoming your Mini's presence on hot days. Who knows, but there are many kinds of relationships we can develop with wild and feral animals. The best challenges are when we can have a good relationship and avoid any perception of threat.
Hope this helps!
Take care and be safe!
