Its very silty at this point,  it's also where the fresh river water meets the sea water.

There was someone fishing there the other day.  I was a little surprised. I got chatting to a local chap who said at low tide you see really big (2ft) fish in the river.

Quite so. A pal in Reims once got his wife to prepare an enormous pike he'd caught, for a dinner party we attended.  Meaty fish but I didn't think much of the taste.

In River Cottage they setup a method to keep the fish alive whilst allowing it to be cleaned out in clear fresh water.
