Hello,

I've read in several places that it is advisable to disable the VPS when flying over water, especially at lower altitudes.  How do I accomplish this in the DJI Fly app for the Mavic Air 2?  Is it simply by turning off ALL obstacle sensors?

Thanks

You can't turn off VPS on the MA2.

Never had a problem flying low over water with my MA2!

Only slow flying/hovering above streamiong water can be tricky.

Do not fly to low, be carefull not to enter an autolanding when pushing down stick when flying low (apprx 0.5 meter)

cheers

The MA2 seems to be very wary and averse to coming too close to the water surface. I and others have tried to drown it, deliberately or accidentally, without success ;-)

If water is flowing really fast and your flying very low and slow, “be careful” and watch what’s happening. But it’s not a common problem, more common is people flying to low and getting caught out.

Unfortunately my Air2s with full battery decided to go land in the water. I was flying close to water, got confused and submerged.

Drones don't just get confused and descend into water.
If you want to find out what actually happened to your drone, post the recorded flight data and someone might be able to analyse and explain it.

Go to: https://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/Upload/
... where you'll find instructions.
That will give a report you can post a link for the report here.
Or just post the .txt file.

So, the article you provided is way out dated. The very first step clearly states you should disable your VPS.

Perhaps you should read articles before suggesting them.

Not interesting to read if you use a FlyAapp drone !!

This video is really old, it is for the Go4 app.

In the FlyApp you cannot switch off the landing protection / bottom sensor.
