I have watched a few YT vids and read some comments on here with very mixed opinions on the car charger for the Mavic Air 2. I noticed that the car charger is not an included accessory with the MA2 fly more combo (replaced with ND filters) though it was with the Mavic Pro fly more combo and the accessory kit for the Mavic 2 series.

What is your opinion on this accessory? Is it a nice to have; essential for your needs; utterly pointless to you or something you have not even considered?

I’ve had car charger for most dji drones and have found them to be extremely slow and not worthwhile, I think you are far better to save your money buy extra battery’s .

I've considered getting one but thought how I would use it as a practical need. Given that I already have four MA2 batteries giving me around 1.75 hours in flight time without touching a charger, the need for a 5th flight is limited to say the least.

Added to the charge time of 100 minutes per battery (and thats after they have cooled down) I would need to drive back to the Peak District from North London to get any use out of it...

I think it's one of those things I'd probably leave in the bag and use two or three times a year at best. May explain why DJI don't include it in the FMC anymore. I can see it being of more benefit to a professional user with a car parked near to the shoot or someone who takes a lot of long distance road trips. For me, I'll pass.

Since the controller is in every battery and since 4.5 hours for charging 3 batteries with the DJI hub is not always "quick" enough, I got myself one of the chargers in this post:
https://forum.dji.com/forum.php? ... d=219049#pid2202439
In that topic it is more about charging on the go/powerbank, but:
The connectors from the mentioned charger are easily to use in a car! Just get urself some (bank of ) female connector(s) for the cable(s) and you can charge in the car.
My problem still is that I am looking for a powerbank with that 12 Volt out!

You are welcome!
Getting a bit of topic, but as comment to your second last post:
This in the linked post mentioned charger is really charging all  in once.
A bit slower (it says 12V2A, but seems a bit quicker, with 3 at least) , as the DJI (hub) Charger (12V/3A) needs for just one, but therefor all 3 or 4 are ready in the same time.
Could even be used in a car, with a 12/24V to 110/220V converter

Very informative thread - I think at least a second mains charger would be more beneficial for me than a car charger.

I don't need it. I have fly more combo and not believe if I will ever flight that much to empty all 3 batteries. Car chargers are not that fast, so it's better to get one more battery.
Maybe power banks would be better because you can charge it while you walking and your drone is in the backpack or any other bag.

Although I do not own an Air 2, I have never used the car chargers that came with my other drone bundles, My Zoom charger I still brand new untouched so the filters would be a better option

As Hallmark said it is kind if useless unless you travel hundreds of miles.

I can see why mate. The ND filters are a much better option - glad DJI included them than the car charger on the MA2

I look at it like health insurance...I don't ever want to use it, but if s--t happens I'll kick myself for not having it.  For $27 I have peace of mind that flying in the morning and then travelling 5 hours to that night's campground that when I get there I'll have a couple of fresh batteries for that amazing sunset, thunderstorm, or rainbow I'd miss without having the car charger.  It's a drop in the bucket compared to missing the shot of a lifetime.

I use the car charger quite frequently to charge the 4th battery on route or to top off the batteries if they sat for more than 24 hrs.

I don't really need one. I have a low power ac inverter in the car already. If I want to recharge batteries, I will use that with an aftermarket charger I have. Same for the boat ;-)

Yes, plus I seldom need more than 3 batteries.
But when i would need it, I can see why you take it with you.
I wonder if a regular car converter (to 220) would be faster.

I do have one lying in the trunk.
So I could test.
But.....
Hard to make the exact same conditions for a good comparison.

I am in the middle of a 3 month job that takes me around the UK at the minute and I have found the car charger to be invaluable at times. Another note to mention...It actually charges 2 batteries quicker than the standard mains charger!  For the price...its worth having just as a back up ha

Yep, the same here, inspired by a member of this forum I have two battery pairs and driving distances are not so big to fully recharge. Plus I have that charger for simultaneous charging but haven't used it yet (for full recharge of all batteries)...

That actually is not a bad move. In case the drive is long enough, 65% batteries need almost half the time,  you can "top up" the batteries,  for "quick, quick, nice weather" getaways
