Did a test with my MM.  

How does it perform when flying forward (only fwd stick, zero up-stick all the time) while the ground below is becoming a slope...

Flying forward really slow my MM adjusted its height above the ground, see the video.
But flying bit faster....it did not steer up quickly enough to keep the same distance drone>ground.

IMO VPS height signal at 0.5 meter is used for the automatic landing ; hover at 0.5 meter, push 100% down stick for short moment, MM will autoland in a slow controlled rate of descend. Happy landing. If you hover 30 meters height in sport mode, apply 100% stick down all the time ; you will see that within VPS height range rate of descend will slow down and at 0.5 meter drone will hover steady, after that it will enter autolanding if still 100% down is applied.

Flying fast forward too low and getting lower, MM will not counter that descend and fly into the ground.
Looking forward to see video`s wich shows me being wrong   ;-)

TBH I would guess this behaviour. If You put your hand under the Mini the sensor doesn't respond very quickly and field of view is not wide as well...

With no descend  and forward speed in  hover indeed  'hand under mini' nice response
IMO with vertical speed down it will not fix too much speed down.

I haven't experiment that much but results were similar to yours. When I went over the rooftop it doesn't work like OA, so I would be affraid of crash flying slope or any tilted obstacle...

Nice test JJB, Dji need testers like you on the field that will test all these functions then we won't see posts about newbies making silly bugger mistakes

Exactly!

I tried it today and it dose work on a gradual incline but you have to be careful and don’t go to fast.
Second try it went into the grass and I think was going to fast.

and yes, exactly my experience, flyingreal slow it does work.

Great,  this is how to learn all the facets of your drone, testing and testing.

Ever tried to hover at 30 meter height, sport mode and full stick down all the way down?
(leave 100% down stick until it has landed)
